IMPORTANT: The FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System is indicated for measuring interstitial fluid glucose levels in people (age 4 and older) with diabetes mellitus, including pregnant women. The App and Sensor are designed to replace blood glucose testing in the self-management of diabetes, including dosing of insulin. The indication for children (age 4 - 12) is limited to those who are supervised by a caregiver who is at least 18 years of age. The caregiver is responsible for managing or assisting the child to manage the App and Sensor and also for interpreting or assisting the child to interpret Sensor glucose readings.

How to use the FreeStyle Libre sensor

Apply the sensor

The FreeStyle Libre sensor is applied on to the back of the upper arm with a simple, disposable device called an applicator. When the sensor is applied, a thin, flexible and sterile tip is inserted just under the skin. Most people feel no pain when applying the sensor2.

Scan sensor

To obtain a glucose reading, simply perform a quick, painless2 1-second scan of the FreeStyle LibreLink app over the sensor. This scan gives you more information than monitoring with blood glucose test strip, without the need for routine finger pricks†.

Get reading

Each scan of the sensor gives a current glucose reading, the last 8-hours of glucose history, and a trend arrow showing if glucose is going up, down, or changing slowly.

* Scanning the sensor does not require lancets.
Φ For a complete glycaemic picture, scan once every 8 hours.
‡ 60-minute warm-up required when applying the sensor
~ Daily Patterns needs at least 5 days of glucose data
Ω The Reader can capture data from the sensor when it is within 1cm to 4cm of the sensor.
₸ Sensor is water resistant in up to 1 metre (3 feet) of water for a maximum of 30 minutes. Do not immerse longer than 30 minutes. Not to be used above 10,000 feet.
† Finger pricks are required if your glucose readings do not match symptoms or expectations.
Ѱ For children aged 4-12, a caregiver at least 18 years old is responsible for supervising, managing, and assisting them in using the FreeStyle Libre system and interpreting its readings.
◊ The FreeStyle LibreLink app and the FreeStyle Libre reader have similar but not identical features. Finger pricks are required if readings do not match symptoms or expectations. The FreeStyle Libre sensor communicates with the FreeStyle Libre reader that started it or the FreeStyle LibreLink app that started it. A sensor started by the FreeStyle Libre reader will also communicate with the FreeStyle LibreLink app. The FreeStyle LibreLink app is only compatible with certain mobile devices and operating systems. Please refer to the smartphone compatibility guide on the website before using the app. Use of FreeStyle LibreLink requires registration with LibreView
