La mesure du taux de glucose contenu dans votre corps peut se faire de plusieurs façons : soit dans le sang, c’est ce que l’on appelle la glycémie réalisée avec un lecteur de glycémie, soit dans le liquide interstitiel qui est le liquide situé entre vos cellules, réalisée avec un capteur mis en place sous la peau. Ainsi si vous mesurez au même moment votre glycémie et que vous la comparez à une mesure de glucose obtenue sur liquide interstitiel, vous trouverez vraisemblablement deux résultats différents car il existe un décalage de 5 à 10mn1 entre le taux de sucre présent dans le sang et celui retrouvé dans le liquide interstitiel. Toutefois si le système indique une hypoglycémie ou l’imminence d’une hypoglycémie, ou en cas de non-concordance des symptômes avec la lecture faite par le système, la réalisation d’un test par prélèvement au bout du doigt à l’aide d’un lecteur de glycémie est nécessaire.

The FreeStyle Libre Software is intended for use by individuals and health care professionals to aid in the review, analysis, and evaluation of information such as sensor glucose readings, blood glucose test results, blood ketone test results, and other data uploaded from the FreeStyle Libre flash glucose monitoring system, in support of an effective diabetes health management program.
The FreeStyle Libre Software is not intended for the diagnosis of or screening for diabetes mellitus. Users should be aware that the FreeStyle Libre software is merely an information management tool and it is therefore not intended to substitute for the support of a health care professional. Individuals should always consult their health care professional if they have any queries or concerns about diabetes management.

The App and Sensor are designed to replace blood glucose testing in the self-management of diabetes, including dosing of insulin. The indication for children (age 4 - 12) is limited to those who are supervised by a caregiver who is at least 18 years of age. The caregiver is responsible for managing or assisting the child to manage the App and Sensor and also for interpreting or assisting the child to interpret Sensor glucose readings.
